Replacing all teeth – removable option

If you have lost all your teeth in one or both jaws, you can choose a permanently anchored dental implant bridge or a removable prosthesis that is connected to two or more dental implants. This is called an overdenture. This type of overdenture remains in place more firmly than a conventional removable prosthesis. For the most natural looking solution, the permanently anchored dental implant bridge is the answer when the prerequisites are met.

Step 1

  • A dental implant installedA consultation and thorough dental examination is performed by Dr Longbottom.
  • X-rays and an impressions are taken of your dental situation.

Step 2

  • A dental implant installedThe dental implants are placed. No healthy teeth are affected or damaged. Healing time depends on bone quantity, quality and your clinical situation.
  • Depending upon your situation, the final procedure for step 2 can be one of the following:
    • Abutments and a temporary full arch removable denture are placed during healing.
    • The dental implants are covered by soft tissue and a temporary full arch removable denture is placed during healing.
    • In some cases, permanent abutments and the final full arch bridge can be placed immediately.

Step 3

Depending upon your individual situation, the next step can include one of the following:
  • An abutment is attachedTemporary abutments are replaced by permanent abutments. An impression is taken and the temporary denture is put in place.
  • The dental implants are revealed through a second surgery and abutments are placed. The temporary denture is put in place. After a healing period, an impression for the final restoration restoration is made. The temporary denture is put back in place.

Step 4

  • New toothA new set of teeth, carefully created to look like your natural teeth are secured in place.
