Replacing one tooth

Step 1

  • A dental implant installedA consultation and thorough dental examination is performed by Dr Longbottom.
  • X-rays and an impressions are taken of your dental situation.

Step 2

  • A dental implant installedThe dental implant is installed in the jawbone. No healthy teeth are affected or damaged.
  • Depending upon your situation, the final procedure for step 2 can be one of the following:
    • Temporary or permanent abutments and a temporary bridge are placed during healing.
    • The dental implants are covered by soft tissue and, if wanted, a temporary removable denture bridge is placed during healing.
    • Permanent abutments and a final bridge are placed immediately.

Step 3

Depending upon your individual situation, the next step can include one of the following:
  • An abutment is attachedTemporary abutments are replaced by permanent abutments. An impression is taken and the temporary bridge is put in place.
  • The dental implants are revealed through a second surgery and abutments are placed. A temporary bridge may be put in place. After a healing period, an impression for the final bridge restoration is made. The temporary bridge is put back in place.

Step 4

  • New toothA new set of teeth, carefully created to look like your natural teeth are secured in place.
